I love hearing about your time abroad. It's been awhile since I've thought of lilacs, but, wow, they are such special flowers. The scent really is unlike anything else.

Thanks Allison! And yes, The scent...yes! And to think I didn't mention it! Funny what we don't say.

so much cool and beauty. I don't have an association with lilacs-but you remind me that certain flowers can be a portal to memories.

Thanks for bringing this conversation into flowers more broadly, Diahann! I totally agree.

Lilacs bring childhood memories back for me also. Our neighbors had this overhead trellis (a pergola?) overgrown with lilacs. When the sun shone, the light turned purplish. And of course, the smell.

I love hearing how many of us have childhood associations with lilacs. And- an entire trellis of them! 🤩

I don’t think so? I always confuse wisteria with lilacs around here 😂

The smell of lilac... Intoxicating. We have several lilac trees in the garden and after having been away for a week, returned to a lilac paradise.

Btw, 12.99 for Spargel? Is a crime!

Several in your garden? I'm so jealous. And yes, how can a fragrance so light be so intoxicating?? 12.99 for a kilo of Spargel is too much?! I guess my wochenmarkt is pricier than I realized!! Thanks for your comment. :-)

Here it’s not much cheaper. I’m generally mildly shocked at the cost - every year more and more expensive. It used to be quite cheap once:-)
