Substack where she mentioned that one of her more unusual skills was her willingness “to pet any / all dogs”. So, don’t take this question too seriously!
On a brisk Saturday in November I was an extra in a short film. The director was a woman, Laura, who I knew from my Sunday “Shut Up and Write” Meet-Up group. She is a teacher at Catalyst Berlin. She’d mentioned in passing that she needed extras for a short film and my long dormant performance ears twitched. I Googled the location, a campus “formerly the GDR’s broadcasting station,” and said “yessss!” to Laura. This fun plan also led me to one of my more unusual “skills”: the willingness to explore any weird old building.
like long closed Brutalist conference centers….
The day of the shoot I was able to engage another one of my more unusual skills: my ability to riff for short amounts of time on Surrealism. I brought in one of my all time favorites, and lesser known artists (see: female artists overshadowed my men and their gargantuan ego), Leonora Carrington. So fun! I can also tell you ten red flags to look out for when it comes to a new boo or…even to take a second (third, fourth) look at an old steady. After many years in food service and catering, I’m also an excellent and enthusiastic event planner.
This one has me thinking for sure. My talent would probably be talking to people. I meet people everywhere! I meet them at the grocery store in line and various places. Last night Steve and I ate dinner at the bar of an Oceanside restaurant . People often chat at the bar. The man beside me finished his dinner and I noticed a beautiful accent. I asked where he was from and he replied Morocco . I don’t think I have ever met anybody from Morocco. He opened up and told me so much about himself and his family. I never know if somebody wants conversation or not. I also know that quite often you make somebody feel special by complimenting them or inquiring about them. I loved my job at the gym and Smitten for that exact reason. I absolutely have been blessed with the gift of gab and a soft heart for others.
I love this story. I bet he enjoyed the conversation as much as you did. And I agree: talking to people is absolutely one of your talents, June. Thanks for sharing <3

I can perform CPR to the tune of a Taylor Swift song!
Whaaat?! Any Taylor Swift song or only "Anti-Hero"?! ;-) GREAT answer.
A few months late but I had to add this here: friend) told me that her unusual skill is liking the most expensive item in a shop! 🤣
