We’re in a time of year that for many can be difficult. Not even just post election, the holidays can be so hard. Maybe we’re estranged from family or without family. Maybe family is choosing to be estranged from us. Maybe the holidays are too boozey or too fake or too charged for us to want to pull out a stocking or menorah. Or maybe it’s our first holiday without a beloved loved one.
And I wonder if there’s a way to keep the good piece with us?
A good memory, tradition or sweet association. Perhaps I’m silver-lining it too much here (and if so, tell me!) but I know when I can exercise some control over a situation or association, it fortifies me. It gives me a shot of gumption and makes me more resilient.
So maybe there’s one thing that would feel really good to have, have back, rename or give new life to as something that is Good.

If there is such a thing for you, what is it? How do you keep the good piece alive, even if the rest totally stinks.
